In anticipation of our 2025 Leadership Conference this October, we’re introducing the keynote speakers who will be joining us in Ogden, Utah. In this post, meet Chantel Chapman, author of The Trauma of Money and CEO and Founder of the Trauma of Money Institute, which provides compassionate, professional training that explores frameworks for healing both individual and collective trauma—supporting greater financial safety, resilience, and well-being.
Chantel Chapman is a trauma survivor, financial trauma educator, and creator of the Trauma of Money (TOM) Method. Her journey through complex PTSD—and her struggle to change destructive money patterns with traditional financial literacy—revealed a deep link between trauma and financial behavior. This realization led her to study trauma, addiction, behavioral science, and economic systems for years. The result: a groundbreaking method for financial healing and empowerment.
Chantel is the founder and CEO of the Trauma of Money Institute. This internationally recognized certification program has trained thousands of professionals in over 22 countries. The TOM Method is changing how we think about money—not just as numbers, but as something shaped by emotion, experience, and systemic forces.
With more than 20 years of experience in financial education and fintech consulting, Chantel Chapman has taught and developed curricula for several major institutions. These include Humber College, Wilfrid Laurier University, Adler University, and Simon Fraser University.
